New paintings on slate

Article text
For the first time Lana has produced a commissioned painting on slate tiles. The tiles are authentic natural stone excavated from a slate quarry in the USA. Their texture is varied and the mellow colours with metallic silver tones provide a wonderfully rich back ground for the art work. The tiles are about 1 mm thick and placed on a back board which is then framed in a metal frame to give the art work "deep frame canvas" look. This painting, simple and elegant is not competing with the natural beauty of the stone, but enhances it. It is done predominantly in silver leaf. Now Lana is working on new ideas for future paintings on slate. This one measured 150 x 180 cm. The prices are available on application and for this size will be approximately £2500.
